Parts for 76 Impala...Please Help?

My husband just bought a '76 convertible Impala. He's planning to restore it, and talked about reinforcing the frame and building the motor. I was kinda of paying attention, but not really. I thought it would be a nice gift to buy the car's first part. What can I get that he will definitely need during the build? I want to give it as a Xmas gift so i won't have time to special order anything. I thought about giving a gift card to a part store, but I think a "necessity" part would be more sentimental. Car guys, please help.
